The first spherical draw for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, will also double as a qualification leg for the 2023 Asian Cup and involve 12 Asian groups.
The teams to cross into the hat are Malaysia, Cambodia, Macau, Laos, Bhutan, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Guam, Brunei Darussalam, Timor-Leste, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka – AFC-affiliated groups ranked from number 35 to forty-six within the FIFA global scores.
These teams could be matched up against each other into six pairs throughout today’s draw. They will play a domestic and away leg to decide 6 winners.
Those six winners will develop to the second qualification round to enroll in the number one to range 34 ranked Asian groups to make it into a pool of 40 teams, on the way to cross on to be divided into eight groups of five each.
Out of these groups, the eight organization winners and the four high-quality runners-up will all qualify for the 0.33 round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, and for the finals of the 2023 Asian Cup.
AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa had this to mention on the Qatar website hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the guy collaborating with Asian groups:
“As we’ve seen inside the remaining 12 months, Qatar is leaving nothing to danger in staging a sincerely staggering spectacle”.
“And what better way to kick-start this exciting journey than properly in our terrific continent? On behalf of the Asian soccer team’s family, I want all our teams to be very satisfactory and have good fortune. I am assured we can witness any other thrilling qualifying campaign,” he said.
Qatar will routinely qualify as hosts for the 2022 FIFA World Cup event. In addition, four direct qualification spots and one determined through an inter-confederation play-off could be allotted for Asian groups in the event. Today’s draw will kick off the complaints and finally cross directly to decide which teams will fill those spots.
