Asian junior champion Lakshya Sen stormed into the men’s singles quarterfinals of China Masters badminton match with an easy straight-sport victory over Ha Young-wrong of South Korea on Thursday.

The Indian, who’s ranked 104 worldwide, won 21-14, 21-15 in a forty-six-minute contest held at Lingshui.

Sen, who was not surely stretched in shape, will tackle Zhou Zeqi of China in the round of 8 matches on Friday.

The Indian youngsters had improved to the spherical of 16 with a comfortable instant video game victory over Malaysia’s Kean. Sen had eased to a 21-12, 21-thirteen win in 34 mins. He acquired a bye within the first spherical.

Elsewhere, at the Swiss Open (Super three hundred), Shubhankar Dey pulled off a massive upset in a marathon match against Asian Games gold medallist Jonatan Christie. The Indian, ranked global No 47, beat fifth seed Christie 12-21, 22-20, 21-17 to enter the zone finals after a 71-minute comeback.

In blended doubles, Arjun MR and Maneesha K beat the seasoned pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki Reddy 21-sixteen, 16-21, 21-15 in the 2nd round.

More Indians are in the fray in the round of 16 at the Swiss Open, including an all-Indian conflict between Sameer Verman and B Sai Praneeth on Thursday.
